During a meeting to assess gas supply arrangements, Managing Director Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) informed the minister that 487 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas was being supplied to domestic consumers. Meanwhile, Managing Director Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) reported a supply of 286 MMCFD.

The minister said that, on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, arrangements had been made to provide domestic consumers with eight hours of gas supply daily, covering the three main meal timings.

He added that the government was committed to maintaining gas availability for household cooking despite challenges posed by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Ali Pervaiz Malik directed both gas utilities to respond promptly to consumer complaints and improve the efficiency of their customer service operations.

He also emphasised the effective use of existing consumer feedback mechanisms, including automated robocalls, official websites and social media platforms, to assess customer satisfaction, identify service-related issues and improve overall service delivery.

The meeting reviewed measures to manage domestic gas demand and ensure that available supplies are distributed in line with the government’s arrangements for household consumers.

The directives come as regional geopolitical tensions continue to create uncertainty for energy markets, reinforcing the need for effective management of Pakistan’s domestic gas supply and improved coordination between gas utilities and consumers.
